At Ganden Kadampa Buddhist Center we have free weekly chanted meditations, regular day courses, retreats, annual empowerments, and other special events.
Annual Meditation Retreats
We have four annual retreats at the Center each year, along with two retreats (one in the fall and one in the spring) held outside the Center.
Day Courses
During day courses, we spend a full day concentrating on one particular topic. Past topics have included:
- Overcoming bad habits
- Improving relationships
- Understanding mindfulness
- Death and dying from a Buddhist perspective
Our day courses and special events are a time when students from all our branch classes and the main center come together to enjoy special teachings. These special events also serve as a fun opportunity to make new friends and catch up with old ones.
Regional, National, and International Events
Ganden Center students also participate in the annual Southern Dharma Celebration, a gathering of all the Kadampa Buddhists in the South. Each April, some students travel to the World Peace Temple in Glen Spey, NY, for the annual US Kadampa Festival. Our New Kadampa Tradition also includes three International Festivals each year at locations throughout the world.
During these events, attendees immerse themselves in teachings, meditations and an empowerment ceremony that provide blessings for the mind and help us to truly embody beautiful qualities like compassion and wisdom.
