We can experience peace and joy through learning to befriend our mind in meditation.
Often it seems like we’re fighting our own mind—for example, trying to eat our way out of feelings of stress, or using screen time to distract ourself from anxiety. But these “solutions” are only temporary at best, until the upset, depression or frustration inevitably returns. Real peace of mind is much more than the temporary absence of painful feelings.
Through Buddha’s teachings on the mind we are given a vision of a radiant peace, where we can feel relaxed and happy with ourself and others. Why is this? Because, according to Buddha, a completely pure mind is one that has become free of “the darkness of ignorance,” which is our misapprehension of the actual nature of our self and our perceptions.
Through the practice of special meditations taught by Buddha, we will be able to experience the actual nature of our mind as completely pure, peaceful and radiant. Gaining even a taste of this opens us up to the prospect of feeling at peace with ourself, in which we experience real mental freedom, ongoing authentic happiness and an ability to benefit others.
Please join us for Kadam Morten’s talk and guided meditations on a journey to befriend our mind. Everyone is welcome.
This special event is perfect for beginners or for those wishing to deepen their meditation practice. Kadam Morten will give a talk and guide a meditation.
