Why Me?
A Buddhist Perspective on Karma
Friday, January 13 @ 6:30pm-7:45pm
Why me? That’s the question we often ask when we find ourselves immersed in problems. But do we have an actual answer to that question? Or do we just feel unlucky? Or that we’ve been dealt an unfair hand?
Buddha’s teachings on the law of karma gives us a clear and practical explanation on why things happen the way they do, and how we can begin to change our experiences from not so great to fantastic. Or at the very least, better. Rather than seeking happiness, we learn to create it. Rather than running from unhappiness, we learn to abandon its causes. Understanding karma puts us in the driver’s seat of our own life.
In this Friday night class, Gen Demo will guide us to an understanding on how by using the law of karma we can change our experience of the present, heal the past, and create a more fortunate future.

The Healing Practice of Taking & Giving
Saturday, January 14 @ 10am-4pm
Our mind is our greatest healer. The Buddhist meditation practice of taking and giving is one of the most powerful methods for opening our hearts and for healing mental and physical illness.
This ancient healing technique has the power to improve mental peace and happiness, and is especially beneficial in situations where we may feel powerless to help others or to overcome adversity.
Gen Demo will guide these extraordinary meditations on giving love and taking away suffering. In this way we actively contribute in removing negativity from the world and spreading loving kindness. Doing this practice we also destroy the source of our own suffering and problems, purify our sickness and increase our mental strength.

The Power of Love to Transcend Hate
Sunday, January 15 @ 10:30am-11:45am
In a world in which hatred, anger, and intolerance are sadly becoming more widespread, what can we do to bring positive change? Hating the haters never produces good results, but just keeps us stuck in unhappiness.
Buddha teaches that love has the power to transcend hate in our hearts and in the world. Only with love can we enjoy genuine peace and harmony.
